Here is an update on the upcoming Ridgway Railroad Museum Gathering of the Flock, set for October 11 - 13, 2019. Attendance by Goose 4 (Telluride) and Goose 5 (Dolores) are confirmed. We will be running them on our demonstration loop along with Motor 1 and our recreation of W. D. Lee's Model T RGS inspection car all day Saturday and Sunday. To help cover transportation, lodging and insurance costs, admission will be $5 which gives unlimited rides on all four motors throughout the day. Kids under 10 years old ride for free. We'll also have lectures on Goose history on Friday and Saturday nights, and an open house at Don Paulson's model layout.
That weekend is also the Ridgway Old West Fest, which is a big event featuring the 50th anniversary of the release of True Grit, which was filmed in and around Ridgway. We expect a big crowd for that, with showings of the movie, members of the Wayne family on site, guided tours of the filming locations, a concert by Debby Campbell (Glenn's daughter), western art and craft vendors, cowboy music and poetry, chuck wagon dinner, and much more. For info on the Old West Fest, see ridgwayoldwestfest.org.
So lots going on in Ridgway the weekend of October 11 - 13. It will be the last chance to ride Goose 4 for quite a while, so plan to take advantage of this rare opportunity and come visit us.
