The spur we were following generally heads in an easterly direction until it gets to the base of Devil Peak when it turns to the north. A little over a mile down the grade we come across a trestle location:
We are at the southern approach end looking down towards the trestle footings. Devil Peak is above us to the right. The trestle curved across a small creek. It was maybe 40 feet high and about 100 feet long.
One of the footings on the north side had a little rock work that is still visible.
Here's the view from the northern end looking south:
You can see where the embankment ends on the southern side as well as one of the footings for the bents.
Here's a view of the northern edge of the trestle showing some more rock work still surviving:
Looking down, you can still see the footings for all of the bents on the north side of the trestle:
Here's one of the trestle spikes used to hold it together:
What's amazing is the spur only ran about 1/4 mile further before ending. Sure seems like a lot of work to build a trestle for just 1/4 mile more of track...
To be continued...
