Exploring to the left of my truck (east) I quickly found the grade heading back towards Roundtree Saddle:
You are looking north. The railroad grade followed the east side of the ridge line from the bottom of the incline down to Roundtree Saddle. I suspect the grade never actually made it to the saddle, but continued on the eastern side of it for several more miles.

The plethora of fallen trees makes it difficult to trace many of these old grades.
Walking a few feet further south and I came upon the switch area between the "mainline" and the spur that took off to the left:
