318 does have a new firebox and riveting that was done at some point in the 80's. However when the new firebox was rolled they used the wrong thickness of material and as a result 318 would most likely not steam properly because of this. It really is a shame as it is really nice work and all new staybolts but to make it operational it would all have to be replaced again.
