About Dec. 27-28, 1970 I drove south from Alamosa to visit a friend and happened upon the train by pure luck. I drove ahead about two miles south of town and parked on the Waverly Road. Luckily had my camera to snap some photos as it went by. Powered by a single SG switch engine, again, carefully avoided getting it in the photos (sorry). Seems it was yellow and green.
The train heading for Antonito, looking north towards Alamosa
Another view as one of the engines gets closer.
Notice the other photographer in the left rear. The only other person I saw.
Engine 482 whizzing by. Train picking up good speed (35+ mph).
Train heading towards Antonito, looking south (towards Estrella, La Jara, etc.)
Engine 495, acting as the "caboose," whizzing by. Train definitely clipping along at this point.
One more to follow
