I was stationed at McChord AFB in Tacoma a couple of years ago. In the town of DuPoint, south of Tacoma on I-5 there was a plant that made ammo if I remember correctly. They had a narrow gauge operation but I thought it was 2’. That would be about the right place according to my time table. It would imagine it is also possible that the rails supported a gravel pit.
I was in DuPointin about 1997 and they still had a small switch engine there. It was not much bigger than a car and not well kept.
