Thanks for sharing the background on this line. I have seen this photograph of the little 4-wheel #5, and thought it was among the most interesting narrow gauge electrics:
I seem to recall seeing photos of an abandoned locomotive from this line, posted to a photo site in the early 2000s.
This thread also reminded me of another, 42" gauge electric mining railway that was still running with boxcabs. Or so I thought. The line down to Tocopilla, Chile, used GE boxcabs from the 1920s and had grades up to 4 percent, but apparently floods washed out the railroad in 2015 and it was abandoned. I hope at least one of those neat locomotives did not get scrapped! Links below.
