Not sure if you are trying to chastise me or what, but as I stated above, I have no issue with the rules nor desire to disrespect folks and I fully understand the reasoning behind things being as they are and have less than no issue with that fact. I have spent a great deal of my life in and around Santa Fe, so I think I have a pretty good understanding. That said, should you find yourself on a day trip to Taos and be flipping through a book as you ride along and stumble across a photo of Otowi and decide right then and there that it would be neat to drive by and see what it looks like today, the only way you are going to accomplish that, and stay within the established rules, is to stay on the highway right of way. As I said above, it is a simple enough step to take. That said, should you have time to plan a trip in advance, there are ways to get more access, but that is not really feasible for what was always intended to be a 2 minute stop to compare present reality with an old photo.
