I'm glad to finally see an explanation. I would also be interested in how Mark's throttle overcame these leverage problems. Mark's throttle was great, worked very smoothly and could be dialed in perfectly. The only thing weird about it was is had a bit of a "rubber band" feel it when you were working it. It worked fine and stayed where you put it, but the linkage felt a bit "spring-y".
Employee 2 (Rich Braden) ran 497 on her first trips which were total nightmares. I got over to see 497 very early in her D&S career. The throttle was pretty much on or off. To control the engine out in the valley you had the throttle wide open and hooked her to the point where she went completely lame and paddled along hitting on only one half of one side. In other words there was only one exhaust per revolution.
