And it is still running!

The Esquel line is probably the longest preserved (narrow gauge) railway in the world. While there is no longer any regular through service, tourist trains still operate over parts of it, and there is the occasional charter over the entire line (at least when there are no washouts). I notice Bernd Seiler of Farrail Tours is planning on a photo charter next August. I last visited in March 2012. If you like wide open spaces this is the railroad for you.
