There is NO footing like that. If one of my guys was caught doing that. He would at the vary least have his lecture from me drilled into his brain for the rest of his life. That is if I ever got to tell him. My first impression would be to fire him and get him off the property before he got himself killed. There is a perfectly good set of side steps behind the plow. If the clearance coming out of the shed was too close to ride the front corner of the engine, then he should have been riding the front tender step.

I'm with Jimmy on the caboose thing at it concerns Olaf's pics. At other times a second caboose went out of Alamosa with a freight to accommodate special guests invited by the railroad. Unless someone has proof, I've never heard of the Chama hostler being imported by private caboose from Alamosa.
