I remember my dad saying once that you could pick up a model T for about $10 right after WWII.
Dad also said that it was the only car he ever drove that you could shift into reverse at 40 mph and not shell the tranny out, also that you could have it in water over the floorboards and not stall the engine. I've always wondered how/when he determined those two facts.
My maternal grandmother, who died young ca 1950, learned to drive on a T and never learned to drive a regular car with a clutch.
