To be perfectly clear; “eliminating distracting elements” does not mean using the clone and healing brush tools in Photoshop to remove items digitally. Instead I achieved this via composition through the viewfinder of the camera. If I couldn’t make it work while shooting I never depressed the shutter button. But with that said – I did delete the gaudy website address from the side of the bay window caboose.
As time passes I like to consider myself leaning towards the definition of a fine art photographer - having a vision of what my work will look like beforehand, then demonstrating consistency through the same medium and techniques. With this latest round of photographs I believe I have created a cohesiveness that connects the subject matter together well.
By the way, the color version of Smith Lake hangs above my desk at work - 40” wide printed on acrylic.
