I'm often taken aback by the reaction to my postings- this hobby is far more diverse in it's "Points of View" than it may seem. Some fine point that means the world to me is often completely lost on the community at large, and all the explanation of my intent I offer doesn't help much.
Example:
A while back, on a different forum, I posted a series of steam photos. Right off the top I explained there would be no captions- these photos were just to enjoy. My challenge was to step back and ponder the majestic spectacle of steam and resist the need to "count the rivets"
I got nice comments about my photos- but pretty much everyone BEGGED to know when & where I'd taken them! My purely artistic intent was completely lost. I got lots of hits, lots of interaction, but as far as my intentions were concerned- the posting was a failure!
