I bet the rail was moved to Farmington in advance in case the ICC declined the petition for abandonment. They had to prove they were maintaining the lines out of Alamosa and not purposely running the physical plant into the ground. I believe quite a few cars were abandoned or sold in Farmington, as well as all along the rest of the NG main between Durango and Alamosa.
