I have no idea what industry, other than the D&RGW, might use that much rail. Perhaps one of our resident historians, such as Earl, can answer . . .

Because of the dim light a lower shutter speed was used, so most of them are a bit blurry. None show more than the first five cars - an idler car, two empty pipe gons, and two more idlers. North of Carbon Junction there's a caboose followed by several empty boxcars.

SFAIK, yes. The scrapper probably sold a few of the boxcars to local farmers for use as sheds, and salvaged the metal parts of the others when the line was torn up.
