As noted above, Ernie headed west after taking his long telephoto shots of #498 leading her eastbound train past the Los Pinos "station" (a telegraphone shack) near m.p. 323. He eventually found westbound #483 tackling the hill between Florida and Falfa

It appears the hill won the battle, as his next shot shows #483 backing down to get more of her train after setting out some cars at a siding along the way

It's not clear from Ernie's photos – at least not to me – whether #483 doubled the hill, or maybe even tripled the hill. It IS clear from the photos that slippery footing due to weeds on the track played a significant part in #483's difficulties
