Either of two historic bridges would be difficult to replicate with today's permitting regulations. Both original bridges encroached into the stream bed when built. You can see some of the piles from the last trestle on site sticking up through the stream bed. The new bridge clears the high water mark on both sides of the brook making constuction and permitting easier.
