The "General Palmer" is car B-7. It was the Alamosa Division Superintendent's car. Normally it was kept in Alamosa. It came to Durango in the 60's as part of the D&RGW's Rio Grande Land development, and was put in charter service. When the car came to Durango it got named the "General William Jackson Palmer" in itty bitty hard-to-read-from-any-distance lettering. The name was later shortened up to "General Palmer". It somehow got damaged in switching in the late 70's, got repaired with a bunch of welded up steel, then taken out of service. When Harper got the D&S he had the car remodeled as his personal private car.
