Chris, you are being far to charitable to whomever built that assinine pilot! Its only saving grace is that the mounting plate upon which it is constructed is original to the locomotive (that fact alone saved it from being hucked in the scrap bin when we moved the locomotive from Silver Plume last year smiling smiley )

Actually, now that it is mounted on a proper pilot beam and has the coupler pocket in place it is not so bad. Once the coupler is in place and we have time to add some steps on each side it will look a lot better.
