I have to agree that the end letters are too big. I can't find any evidence of a 3000 series narrow gauge boxcar having end lettering like what is now on 3132 at any time in their D&RG / D&RGW service. The end lettering applied by the D&RGW was much smaller, all of it fit between the grab irons on the end of the car.
My bet is that someone at the Park Service misread the dimension on the lettering diagram that they obtained, or they got their hands on one for a standard gauge car.
Minor nit picking some may say, but it really is a glaring bummer on an otherwise very accurately restored car (if the NPS insisted on using the historically correct species of wood, which no one will see or notice, the should get the lettering, which everyone can see, correct.). That said, @#$%& happens to the best of us and it is a pretty easy issue to correct.
