Well, I think that from White Pass on out to Carcross, they probably could. That part of the line is just a regular railroad run through the woods. It's some of the stretches from Skagway to White Pass that would be a bit more interesting. Widening those would be akin to standard-gauging the High-Line in Rockwood....with the addition of a few bridges and a tunnel. That would be a project that would involve a sizeable infusion of cash.....not to mention bringing in totally new trainsets....all of which would have to come in by boat. Everything of any size comes to Skagway on a boat.
Getting rid of the steam engines on the other hand would probably just take a signature on a piece of paper.
