The whistle's valve was "reconditioned" then lapped into its seat on the whistle. Years past when the valve was lapped into its seat the whistle worked ok for a while, but then it degrades fairly fast. It will be interesting to see how long this fix works. There are plans to machine a new valve when there's time.
