All,
Let me clear up some confusion that may exist.
When we received the "paint masks" that were used to letter the car it became clear to us that the lettering was not the size we wanted in the final product. We were about to have a meeting with a potential donor so
I made the decision to go ahead and apply it so the car had a finished rather than unfinished appearance. The new lettering which is being applied today was ordered and is being applied today. Up till this time no pictures have yet surfaced that show the car in the 1915-1920 era.
On the #168 and Historic Car projects every attempt is made to do the work in accordance with the best evidence we have for the period of significance.
I am very proud of the work done by our restoration team under Stathi Pappas direction to bring this car to completion on schedule and within the budget set for it.
To be truly appreciated the car must be seen in person, and I encourage you all to come and have a look.
The grant for the next car has been approved. As soon as the pre-construction conference is done restoration of coach #256 will begin.
