A bit of trivia
. The Middletown & Unionville RR, upon becoming a independent RR in 1913, purchased 5 former Swift Meat Packing insulated cars for milk service. These cars saw a short service life on the M&U and were off the RR rather quick, with 2 of them being used as storage sheds in the Middletown N.Y. yard. These cars had horse hair insulation. Excelsior was made at a factory located in northern N.J. and was served by the M&U's former owner, the NYS&W.
