#480 ready to leave Dunollie for Greymouth with the return Passenger connection. Behind is a Miners train bound for Rewanui at the end of the branch.
Dunollie is at the foot of the Rewanui incline, a 3.35 mile section of 1:26 gradient rising 535ft worked with a Fell system centre rail for braking purposes therefore Locos running beyond Dunollie require a modified Cowcatcher for clearance of the centre rail. By the time of this photo the centre rail has been removed and double Air pumps fitted.
Now has a number on the Smokebox for JP.
