The main line and siding at Maysville was on a curve and the wye was built at an angle to the NW.
The wye at Maysville had an interesting history. It was built in December 1941 and January 1942. The original estimate was based on using new 90 pound rail. The CF&I wanted to run the quarry all winter and so there was an urgency to get the wye built. Second hand 65 pound rail from the Chili Line (Santa Fe branch) was used instead. Prior to the construction of the wye, loaded trains were left on the Maysville siding and the engines had to back up with empty gons all the way back to Monarch.
