This engine is a contemporary of Crystal River 101 and 102 which became D&RGW 360 and 361. They are Baldwin 10-28-E #49 and #50, while WP&YR #61 is 10-28-E # 51. All three were built at virtually the same time in May and June of 1900. As a matter of fact, this engine was actually built between the 102(361) whic was built in May, 1900, and the 101 (360) which was built in June, after the 61. The only major difference between the engines is that the 61 carried a boiler pressure of 180#, while the Crystal River locos only ran at 160#, so the this engine had a higher tractive effort.
