When I first tried to figure out where the round house and turntable were located, I had it placed in about the same area as this map. However, I noticed on a Zillow map and then on the Google Map of Ridgway, there is a circular area just south and west of the turntable site noted by the overlay map. I can't think of anything other than the turntable pit that would make this pattern so I revised my notion of the turntable location. Also, a photograph of Ridgway in the Fort Lewis collection [
swcenter.fortlewis.edu] seemed to put the north side of the turntable pit under the south edge of the road if Hyde Street had been extended at that time, but not completely under the newer portion of the road as shown in the overlay map. This could be deceptive since Hyde is higher than the yard so my straight line may have been crooked. My presumed site for the turntable is not where the overlay would indicate the turntable was located so I'm having doubts again. However, if the circular pattern in the Google Map satellite view is not the impression of the turntable pit, what is it? (The Bing satellite view doesn't show the circle as well as the Google Map.)
