The first narrow gauge built west of Boulder was the Greeley Salt Lake & Pacific, which extended from Boulder to Sunset. There was no turntable or wye at Sunset, so the locomotives ran tender first on the eastbound (downhill) trip. Nice coverage in Forrest Crossen's Switzerland Trail book.
