It is interesting to see that in some of these photos, the locomotive was running with a spark arrestor screen that is very similar to the configuration that is used on the C&TS today. Occasionally, both the D&S and C&TS still run without one and I've been fortunate to be on a few charters where that was the case. I suspect that the time of year and the local fire danger are big considerations in making the decisions in that regard. But it is nice to see that the presence of a spark arrestor doesn't necessarily spoil the authentic look of today's photo trains.
