I am assuming from all these images this photo charter was the last running of steam on the EBT?
I am reminded of all the "Last Runs" I have shot over the years. Engines that did not run again after I was there. Here is the list.
(1) 1978, Reading 2101 (was AFT #1) on a dead-head move from Russell, KY to Silver Grove Roundhouse. RH burned in March 1979. Engine never ran again (At B&O Museum now)
(2) 1980 Ex-CPR Royal Hudson 4-6-4 2839 in November making a farewell run from Atlanta to Alexandria, VA, and never ran again(Now at Museum in California
(3) September of 1989 Salem and Hillsborough 4-4-0 #29 ran since 4 of us kicked in money for them to run it 1/2 a day for us. Shop fire a few months later made them sell it to CPR---on display Calgary
I could probably list 10 or more engines that made their final runs within a few months of when I last shot them. Here area. few that come to mind.GTW 6325, N&W 1218, Kentucky Central (ex-Reader) #11, Cotton Belt 4-8-4 819.
The point is "Shoot em, and enjoy them while you can" These things come and go, and with the new FRA part 230, the clock ticks on each operating engine.
Cheers,
Greg
