This past summer was a
tough one. North of CA, there were wildfires all over the western portions of Washington and Oregon, where they are rarely ever seen. They even had a fire large enough to merit a DC-10 airdrop from the other side of the Cascades: [

Soon after, there was enough smoke to the same area from a massive Canadian fire (with the smoke drifting south) and the later north bound smoke from a
Californian fire. It got so bad that even people without breathing problems found the air to be a bit tough to breathe.
And this in an area where wildfires aren't normally a 'thing'.
I hope that California gets a break for a long while. They sure need it.
