Just west of Chama there was a short pull out of the crossing of Willow Creek, so occasionally trains would doublehead from Chama to Azotea with the helper running light from there to Gato. The one time I saw this was December 1961, so it may have been a winter thing, with snow on the track. The trainorders spelled out where the helper would doublehead and where it would run light.
