The 487 also still has the lifting injector on the fireman's side. This showed up sometime late in the D&RGW era although I am not sure exactly when. They also plumbed the air pump exhaust through an external pipe run up the back of the stack, which had been removed by the date of this photo. I always wondered what possessed them to make those two modifications. The injector was not highly thought of by the crews and was removed and replaced by the standard non-lifting Hancock inspirator (from 483) during the summer of 1978, as I recall.
