I enjoyed this post as well--when I was 17, the Alamosa roadmaster told me to look him up when I turned 18 and he'd put me to work on the narrow gauge. But, I went to college instead. That was 1958--imagine what my life might have been had I followed up on that first impulse--and I met him because of the 3000 when he was in Durango visiting with the Army officer in charge of the trial runs of the diesel.
