Hi, Tom et al -

The fire passed by in the foothills on the north edge of east Ventura, about a mile north of my place.  The nearest voluntary (recommended) evacuation zone was about 3/4 mile directly north, but the winds were blowing the fire west, not south, so I was not in immediate danger.  Several of my friends and acquaintances were evacuated, and a few did lose their homes.  Ventura County and the near corner of Santa Barbara County are hurting badly right now.  Here's a photo from my balcony around 1:30 Sunday afternoon 12/10/17, looking northwest toward Santa Barbara:
