Well, at least they got the '8' pretty close — see last two images on [ngdiscussion.net].

That's very good news, Scott -
Will the numbering on #168 also be corrected — or at least, in the absence of historically accurate typeface specs, significantly improved?
Dave Taylor has asked me for some input on improving the spacing of the numbers on the tender of "#425", so here is a preliminary suggestion based on the photos of #168 and #174 posted recently, along with information from the older Block Lettering diagram posted by Jerry Day a few weeks ago
:
As noted on another thread, the numeral '4' of Benn Coifman's Railroad Roman font is not very close to the style developed (apparently from the classic Engravers' Roman typeface) by the D&RG and further refined when the D&RGW produced their stencils for the new flying
Rio Grande style circa 1940

Unfortunately, no photos have as yet been uncovered of #425 in the target era. Nonetheless, Dave and his crew may want to consider replacing their current numeral '4' with one that is closer to the D&RG style used on #174 - or on standard gauge loco #524 - at about the same time. Unlike the numbers with lots of curves the '4' is mostly straight lines, so it shouldn't be too difficult to approximate a copy of the '4' from the photo of #174 posted by Chris Walker a few days ago. I'll gladly participate to the best of my ability, although my talents are strictly amateur.
