With all the discussion on another thread I thought I would bring this one back to the front. The Special Projects team used Dave Grandt’s photo as input for the stencils used to paint the lettering on the 168. This thread helped to define the lettering used on the tender.
The DRHS volunteers used this design as a basis for cutting the vinyl letters applied over the black movie paint on 315 to backdate the engine to the 425 lettering style. The DRHS volunteers will hold a special work session and reapply 425’s tender lettering before VIHR. The headlight on 315/424 was fabricated for this event based on one Jeff Taylor and the CRRM lent DRHS last year. It is a very close match to the one 424 had in the early 1920’s.
