Wade Hall who co-wrote the Trails Among the Columbine 93/94 issue on the Monarch stated he had never seen any pictures of -27's on the Branch. The large limestone quarry was the reason the line was upgraded in the late 1920's, traffic was minimal prior to that, most loads would have been downhill and the Grande had plenty of 2-8-0's needing work.

The tramway trestle visible in Dave Grandt's picture is of the Eclipse Mining operation which produced limestone for smelters and sugar refining. Note the first C has round domes, could only be 340, 341 or 342.
