So doing a little calculation on the length of the spur. The locomotive is about 1500 feet down the spur from the wye. A K-37 is about 65 feet long. Each stock car is about 34 feet long coupler face to coupler face. Thus 110 stock cars x 34 feet + 65 feet + 1500 feet = 5305 feet. So the Santa Fe stub was over a mile long. If the string of stock cars did not start at end of track it could have even been longer...
