Doug raises some good points. Perhaps a new thread on long term preservation should be started. With the current outdoor storage situation, the Friends end up restoring cars multiple times as they deteriorate from weather. Despite the cost of storage buildings, long term it might be cheaper to build storage than to restore over and over again.
Where to locate storage has always been an issue. There isn't much real estate available in Antonito to construct another building on, unless one is built west of the crossing where the new siding has been installed. At Chama, with the extension of the wye, it might be possible to build there without interfering with the historic view scape. That's the problem with any proposal to build in the Chama yard or terminal area is the historic view scape will be destroyed.
Any storage building needs to be near an active terminal, if only for security reasons, so finding a place that won't compromise the historic setting will be the first challenge. Then fund raising comes next, although pole barn type structures are not all that expensive.
