I concur with all of Ear's post except for the train heading. I recall that the section of the curve where we shot had the train heading roughly northeast. The aerial photo that Michael posted appears to confirm my recollection. Regardless, thanks to the Friends, we finally were able to get a clean shot at The Whiplash, after years of dodging sagebrush and other vegetation. It was a nice spot.
