John - appreciate the heads up on this as well. You mentioned this is CO and NM's newest scenic and historic byway... does that reflect this being a newer road improvement project or something along those lines? For some reason I had it in my mind it wasn't that easy to trace significant portions of the route between Chama and Durango, but looking again at aerial / satellite maps does confirm what you say about the drive. It looks like we'll be adding this to our list during our upcoming visit!
