I know little more about casting parts other than it involves a mold, sand and hot iron. eye rolling smiley

Perhaps you could comment on why the particular characteristics of a given pattern (thin spokes and rim) limits the choice of a foundry? In other words, as long as a mold's overall dimensions are within a foundry's capabilities, why does the thin spoke or rim matter to the foundry?
