My dad and I, as I have mentioned probably 100 times now, will be at the Cumbres & Toltec in August. We will be driving a '94 Ford Ranger that is not a 4 wheel drive. He and I plan to get there on Sunday, and watch the train leave Antonito and I thought we'd try to park the truck at Cumbres, and walk down to watch them go through Tangle foot. Is that possible? I though Tangle foot was about a quarter of a mile from Cumbres or so.
Then we will ride the train from Chama on Tuesday (hang around the yard on Monday when they aren't running I guess). And then watch them again from Antonito up on Wednesday, or work with the friends as we just joined the friends about 3 months ago or so. Then we were going to go to the D&S on Thursday and Friday, but I have been informed that there is a work session for the friends going on. So I will work with them on those days. Then we will watch the train from Chama up on Saturday.
I am trying to decide if I want to watch them pull up to Cumbres or watch them go through the big hairpin curve at Coxo. I would love to watch it accelerate through there. Would we be able to watch them go through there without having to drive to it? Should we park the truck at Cumbres and walk down the hill to it?
Lots of things to do and see, and lots of ways to see it!
Thanks,
Kevin Bush
