I rode the White Pass for the first and only time back in early October, 1976. The ride along Lake Bennett was scenic even at that time of year. I flew into Whitehorse and then rode the mixed train to Skagway, spent a couple of nights there and then returned to Whitehorse to fly home.
On my bucket list is to take an Alaskan Cruise and ride the White Pass. As I looked at the website prior to my posting, I thought that the train/bus trip all the way to Carcross would be the best option.
That trip was my first real ride on a narrow gauge train. I had seen the Rio Grande in Durango; but, the family trip to Nebraska did not allow a day to ride the Silverton.
