455 rolled out of the RGS shops in Ridgway wearing the Sunrise herald March 29 1941. 455 was out of service the first 3 months of 1941. Prior to the overhaul and re painting of the engine she had the Toilet seat herald painted over but still had the Denver & Rio Grande Western lettering on her tender. 455 did a break in run to Dallas Divide and return on the 29th of March based on the dispatchers train sheets at the CRRM.. So the silver lettering with the white handrails and ladders on the 0400 as shown in the Jackson photo would be the correct livery for the RGS recreation trip in September.
