I mean they do turn - without stopping. They just blow through it and turn, sometimes at high speeds, 15 - 20 mph, sometimes without looking or yielding to cross traffic.

I watched a Colorado State Trooper do it about an hour ago, coincidentally. The light (robot?) turned red, and he just flew around the corner.

Incidentally, it's usually referred to as a "California stop" by most drivers...
