Re: A "Eureka" story

Folks,
Dan Markoff has been doing a series of stories about his adventures with the Eureka in the Sagebrush Headlight newsletter of the Friends of the Nevada State Railroad Museum-Carson City. They are wonderful. They used to be on the museum web site; but they may have taken them down. I really like the story of the time he
took the locomotive home to Palisade, Nevada and the whole town turned out to visit the locomotive. They laid some rails on the original ties salvaged from the railroad, when it was abandoned.

Of course he told the story of his trips to the Colorado Rockies. He ran both the Durango & Silverton and the Cumbres & Toltec at different times. Eureka is one beautiful example of American industrial archaeology.
